Forewarned is forearmed. And we’ve all been forewarned: Watch what you post on Facebook.
A CareerBuilder survey found that 45% of employers use social networking sites to weed out job candidates. When evaluating candidates, 29% snoop around Facebook, 26% scout LinkedIn, and 21% check out MySpace. With six of us scrambling for every job out there, all it takes is a compromising picture to make you one of the five out.
This new investigative capability is especially bad news if you’re on an Information Technology job search. That’s because 63% of IT employers screen by social network activity—the highest level in the survey. Read the rest of this entry »

Did we have a drink over the holiday weekend? Did we drink, by any chance, with our boss or co-workers? No, don’t tell me, we overdid it! Are we ready for another job search?
But it was the end-of-summer company picnic. Not really a work event, right? Besides, everybody was feeling good.
